    Deputy Head of the ExPE
    Oleksii Khabatiuk visited Norway

    On February, 25 in Oslo it was held the discussion of the situation in energy sector that emerged as a result of military actions on the territory of Donetsk and Lugansk regions. In discussion participated representatives of state bodies, NGOs and business of Ukraine and Norway.

    Oleksii Khabatiuk, Deputy Head of The Expert Platform for Energy Efficiency (ExPE), presented to participants of the meeting his vision of current situation and principal positions which/that must be constantly kept in the area of attention:
    - physical protection of power facilities (thermal power plants, hydropower plants, nuclear power plants) and elements of infrastructure (backbone electric power transmission and electric substation, cross-country gas pipelines and gas compressor stations, main railway lines);
    - fuel supply to thermal station;
    - accumulation of gas in underground storage facilities for heating season 2015/2016.

    Nuclear energy can be a formula of success for the energy security of Ukraine.

    Politicians in Ukraine have always used Ukraine nuke plant map as a “bogeyman”. In fact, the nuclear energy can guarantee our energy security. Or vice versa, because Ukraine still pays the bills of Russia for energy storage on our nuclear plants. Nuclear specialists all over the world are the elect of the energy science to whom others normally listen and respect, why do we have the opposite situation – our guest, Olga Kosharna, raises the question.
    Today Russia again theatricalizes in internet nuclear “bogeyman” by spreading fakes.

    Platform analyzes Lithuanian experience in the field of energy efficiency

    During February 12-13, the Deputy Head of the public organization "ExPE", Oleksii Khabatiuk, visited Lithuania, where he held a number of meetings with representatives of state agencies and private companies. During the meeting with representatives of the President’s Office and the Prime Minister's Office of the Republic of Lithuania, the parties discussed urgent issues of energy security, security of energy supplies and energy efficiency. Colleagues described the achievements of Lithuania in the direction of increasing energy security and expressed their willingness to share best practices with Ukrainian side.

    The meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania was concentrated around promising directions of cooperation in the energy sector both at the international and regional levels.

    Forest resources should be used rationally

    The experts Mykola Kolomyichenko and Oleksii Khabatiuk took part in the development of draft law № 1362 on amendments to the law of Ukraine " On peculiarities of state regulation of business activities related to the sale and export of wood products" (regarding the moratorium on export of lumber and timber in rough form). The draft law was taken in Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine as the basis today.

    It is real victory in sphere of solid biofuel production because moratorium affords the opportunity for development of timber conversion and will increase amount of raw materials for biofuel production almost twice.

    ExPE extends its cooperation with GIZ

    On January 28, 2015 the expert Oleksandr Boyko participated in the conference “Energy efficiency and energy management in the industry of Ukraine as the path to sustainable economic development” within the framework of the GIZ project “Energy efficient modernization of the Donetsk Oblast industry aimed to reduce climate changes”. The expert made a presentation on “The management system of efficient use of energy resources and energy safety of Ukraine. Nowadays, tomorrow and perspective”.
